Salina, Utah - Ricky Gail Shaw, 65, passed away October 16, 2018 at his home in Salina from complications of pneumonia. Rick was born October 31, 1952 in Salina. The son of W. Gail and Mary Shaw. Later he moved to Salt Lake City where he grew up. He graduated from Cotton Wood High School and then attended Southern Utah University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in two years. He moved back to Salina where he lived with His Grandparents Ted and Myrt Shepherd. Rick was an old-time cowboy who loved to ride horses and he loved the farm. He liked to go lion and bear hunting. He enjoyed Riding four wheelers. He loved the outdoors. He worked for Tom John’s Chevrolet dealership in Salina, and then worked for the Forest Service for many years. Rick suffered with an undiagnosed neurological disease that left him wheelchair bound, and in a great deal of pain for many years. Though he suffered greatly he always kept a positive attitude, and he never lost his great sense of humor. He was an amazing example of strength and fortitude to his many friends and family. Rick is survived by his mother Mary Shaw of Salina; siblings: Sheri and Gary Phillips of Murray; Jim and Ann Shaw of Aurora; Carolyn and Ray Hardy of Washington. He was preceded in death by his father W. Gail Shaw and his grandparents Ted and Myrt Shepherd. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, October 22, 2018 in the Salina Creek Ward chapel 87 South 100 East, Salina. Friends may call for viewing 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main, Salina, or at the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Monday prior to services. Burial in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery is under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
