Rita Ann Ekker Lewis

January 1, 1957 — March 15, 2017

Hanksville, Utah - On March 15, 2017, Rita Ann Ekker Lewis, joined her parents, Jesse and Barbara Ekker. Rita was a very hard working woman. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart. When she would see ya, she would always say, "How the hell are ya?" and hug you and tell you to be safe and wish you well. Rita always liked to have a beer with her family and friends. She was always fun and kept everyone laughing. She will be missed by one and all that knew her. She kept people going at work and made work more fun. She would do anything for you. If she didn't call you a bad word or criticize you, she didn't like you. I am sure we will all miss her famous 5 words: "Your A** is sucking wind!!!" Rita was born January 1, 1957 in Grand Junction, Colorado, a daughter of Jesse Gibbons and Barbara Jean Baldwin Ekker. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1975. She married James Lewis, June 24, 1978 at Rainbow Bridge on Lake Powell. They were later divorced. Rita loved cooking and worked as a cook and manager at Stan's Burger Shack in Hanksville. She loved going to the lake and spending time on the boat. Rita is survived by her siblings: Neva Fay and Ben Pace of Loa; James and Sybil Middleton of Florida; Justin Ekker of Hanksville; Jodi and Alan Walker of Salt Lake City; Jason and Stacie Ekker of Teasdale; Cameron and Michaelene Ekker of Superior, Wyoming; nieces and nephews: Farah Pace, Marc Simmons, Tessa Simmons, Cameron Simmons, Jesse James Middleton, Raya Ekker, Tyler Walker, Shelby Walker, Hagan Ekker, Brielle Ekker, Alyn (Boo) Ekker and Dacey Lyman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Barbara Ekker. Private family services were held and graveside services will be held later this summer in the Hanksville Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
