Rodney Hansen

April 18, 1947 — October 6, 2022

Elsinore, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Howard Rodney Hansen, age 75, passed away October 6, 2022 in Payson, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1947 in Elsinore, a son of Omery John and Anna Marie Hansen. He grew up in Elsinore and graduated from South Sevier High School, Class of 1965. Rodney served his country during the Viet Nam Conflict in the United States Army from 1967 to 1968.


He married Diana Jean Perkins November 1, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later divorced. He married Lori Etherington June 14, 2008 in Richfield, Utah.


Rodney lived in Elsinore his entire life. He loved the small town living and loved raising his children there.

Rodney is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was very Patriotic and had much respect for his country and the flag. Rodney was also member of the American Legion, and served as a Scout Master. He worked for Gary Lund Trucking and Willow Wood Turf for many years.


He enjoyed gardening, lawn care, camping, hunting and 4-wheeling. He loved guns and reloading bullets. Family meant everything to Rodney and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.


Rodney is survived by his wife, Lori, of Payson; children: Ricky Lynn and Joelle Hansen of Monroe; Tara Dawn and Ryan Shaw, Gary Kent Hansen, all of Elsinore; Carla Jean (Deceased) and Brett Bethany of Arkansas; step-children: Jimmy Lee Hansen of Salina; Tyler J. and Anne Miller of Eagle Mountain; Jenna McMichael of Payson and Julie and Nick Francom of Lehi; 27 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Marvin Hansen of Central Valley; James V. and Carol Faye Hansen, Havolyn (Deceased) and Kaye Hansen, Forrest and KayLyn Hansen, and Darlene Peterson, all of Elsinore; Ruth Shaw of Aurora; Sterling Hansen of Richfield; Virginia and Gerald Williams of Yuma, Arizona; LaJeanne and Rex Rowley of Fillmore; LaNeeta and Donald Sudweeks of Annabella.


He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Carla Jean Bethany; and three brothers: Havolyn, Conrad and Omery J. Hansen.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Elsinore Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.


Burial with military honors accorded by the J.C. Jensen American Legion Post #75 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
