Roe Coleman

Toquerville, Utah - Monroe “Roe” Coleman, age 75, of Toquerville, died November 13, 2006 in St. George, Utah. He was born June 16, 1931 in Teasdale, Utah, a son of George Samuel and Alice Ann Twitchell Coleman. He grew up in Teasdale and graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1949. After graduation from high school, Roe joined the United States Marines and served his country during the Korean Conflict. While in Korea, he received the Purple Heart. Roe married VaLoy Morrell, the daughter of Lizzie and Elijah Morrell of Loa, Utah, on December 1, 1950 in Loa, Utah. She died July 7, 1998. Roe worked for the Utah State Division of Wildlife Resources and retired as a Wildlife Manager. He was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he enjoyed teaching his two grandsons these things. He is survived by his children: Darlene and Shane Cammack of Salt Lake City; Diane and Nickolas J. Meeter of North Las Vegas, NV; Nolan Coleman of Toquerville; 2 grandsons: Joshua Monroe Meeter and Jeremy Martin Meeter, both of North Las Vegas; sisters: Evelyn Powell of Price and Caroline Ihrig of Idaho. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers: Clema Wilson, Rayola Staples, Hilda Hendren, Marlin Coleman, Verl Coleman, Galord Coleman and Delbert Coleman. Grave side services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
