Roe G. Burgess

Loa/Redmond, Utah - Roe Goald Burgess, age 88, of Redmond and formerly of Loa, died May 20, 2007 in Richfield, Utah. He was born May 21, 1918 in Elmo, Utah, a son of William Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Gifford Burgess. He married LaRee Goff, April 27, 1939 in Loa, Utah. They were later divorced. He married Colleen Joy Simper Adams, January 11, 1977 in Ely, Nevada. Roe joined the US Army and served his country during World War II as a Military Policeman in Japan from 1945 to 1946. For many years he worked at the Feed Mill in Loa and also the Poultry. He later worked for the Wayne County Road Department. Roe was a member of the Wayne County Jeep Posse, the American Legion and the Wayne Wonderland Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved spending the winters at Quartsite with Joy. Roe and Joy moved from Loa to Redmond in 2000 to be closer to their children. He is survived by his wife, Joy, of Redmond; children: Nola and Ellis Graham of Koosharem, Ardath and Robert Sheriff of Saratoga Springs; step-daughters: Gloria and Vic Swaim of Richfield; Mary Lee and Brent Jensen, Cathy and Robert Boyter, all of Redmond; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers: LaBada Mooney, Nelton Burgess and Boyd G. Burgess. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Grave side services with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
