Roene Anderson

November 23, 1955 — May 9, 2007

Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and educator, Roene Gurr Anderson, age 51, died suddenly after a brief critical illness on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 in Salt Lake City. She was born November 23, 1955 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of Merrill Samuel and Joy Maurine Nay Gurr. She graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1974. She married V. Carl Anderson, June 18, 1982 in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Roene went to college and received her Master’s Degree with Administrative Endorsement. She was a Special Educator for 25 years, Assistant Principal at Ashman and Pahvant Elementary Schools in Richfield; Reading Specialist for the Sevier School District and a dedicated teacher who loved reading. Roene was an active member of the LDS Church. She was currently the Relief Society President in the Salina 2nd Ward. She also served in the Scouting Program, Primary and Young Women’s. She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, visiting with family and teaching children how to read. Roene is survived by her husband, V. Carl Anderson of Salina; a son, Caden Merrill Anderson of Salina; soon to be daughter-in-law: Megan Meacham of Pleasant Grove; sisters and brother: Sandra Sue and Bert Jensen of Redmond; Alan and Elaine Gurr of Aurora; Laurie and Kevin Hatch, Merrilyn and Roger Hirschi, all of Salina; parents-in-law: Valden and Berna Deane Anderson of Salina; brothers-in-law: Brent and Roseann Anderson, Preston and Cindy Anderson, all of Salina; lots of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Joy Gurr. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North. Friends may call for viewing at the Stake Center Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
