Rolayne Peterson Andreasen

June 6, 1941 — April 19, 2022

Gunnison, Utah – RoLayne Peterson Andreasen, a caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left this physical world on April 19, 2022 at age 80, in her hometown of Gunnison, Utah. She was born to Byron Charles and Mildred Elizabeth Olsen Peterson on June 6, 1941 in Gunnison. After graduating from high school she chased her dream of island vacationing and then returned to local jobs so she could remain in town and serve selflessly in her family. RoLayne formed and nurtured an enduring and selfless love with her husband Larry M. Andreasen on September 21, 1974 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were blessed with 3 children: Marcy, Mitchell, and Monica. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and goodies for her family and others. Her homemade stuffing and pumpkin cookies couldn’t be beat. To some her kitchen was called the corner café where a listening ear and good talks were always in season. Her values and family were always at the front of her life. She was truly dedicated to making each feel special. She was her family’s greatest example of love, serving and finding joy in small and simple things. RoLayne is survived by her children: Marcy (Orrin) Rice of Yreka, CA, Mitchell Andreasen of Gunnison, and Monica (Devon) Nygren of Farmington, NM; grandchildren: Cameron, Brayden, Dylan, and Jaxon Rice, Sydney, Asher and Easton Nygren; brothers: Kent and Betty Peterson, Verden and Mary Peterson; siblings-in-law: Tressie Lund, Tom Bird, and Richard Lee; many nieces/nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry M. Andreasen; grandson Christian Rice; sisters Barta Bird and Ravoe Lee; and sibling-in-laws: Karen and Lester Anderson, Kent and Joy Andreasen, Jack and Madge Andreasen, Ramona Young, Beth Gates and Bennett Andreasen. The family expresses a deep appreciation to the Doctors and Home Health/Hospice staff that provided years of compassionate care. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 12 Noon in the Redmond Cemetery.
