Elsinore, Utah - Ronald Murvin Colby Sr., age 80, of Kearns, Utah, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was reunited with the love of his life on July 15, 2022, six days shy from their 60th wedding anniversary. He passed away at Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield due to heart failure. It is our belief his heart could no longer beat in a world where his beloved wife’s had stopped, just three months prior. The eldest of five, Ronald was born on October 3, 1941 to Murvin LeRoy and Nelda Hansen Colby in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in Salina and Richfield. Ron married the love of his life, Elaine Carter July 21, 1962 in Chester, Utah. They made their home in Kearns, where they raised their three children. She preceded him in death April 18, 2022. Ronald was a loving, playful and occasionally “grumpy-old-man” who had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh and smile. He was lovingly nick-named “Papa Grumpie”, a title he wore with pride. He had a love for locomotives, fishing, stamp-collecting, and genealogy. Later in life, he grew a passion for woodworking, and shared this passion with several of his family members. He is survived by his children: Ronald and Bonnie Colby of Harrison, AR; Rhonda and Rob Wyatt of Kearns, UT; Christine and Rory Meacham of Elsinore, UT; his siblings Marie and Fred Christensen; Russel and Marla Colby; as well as 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kent Colby and Ray Vickers; and wife, Elaine Colby. Ronald was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Although our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing he is where his heart wanted to be – back in the arms of his love, who he simply could not live without. Family and friends can gather at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 75 N Center St, Elsinore, UT 84757, on Saturday, August 6th at 2:00 p.m. Mountain time for a celebration of life for both Ronald and Elaine Colby.
