Ronnie D. New

January 12, 1941 — July 2, 2005

Fremont, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle, Ronnie Dean New, age 64, died July 2, 2005 at his home in Fremont, in the loving arms of his family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born January 12, 1941 in Loa, Utah, a son of Chester “Chet” William and Zina Oyler New. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1959. He served in the US Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Ronnie married Sandra Jackson, November 27, 1965 in Fremont, Utah. He was a member of the LDS Church, where he served as a Scout Leader and a Home Teacher. He also served as a 4-H Leader. Along with his sons, Ron owned and operated the Ron New and Sons Construction Company. He enjoyed raising game birds, hunting, trap shooting, ATV’s and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of Fremont; children: Scott W. and Jody New of Grantsville, UT; Kevin J. and Megan New of Loa; Jason R. and Ranae New of Battle Mtn., NV; Brady R. and Kelly New of Loa; Laura and Jeremy Westwood of St. George; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Zina New of Loa; brothers and sister: Donnie L. and Donna New of Escalon, CA; C. Bob and LuGene New, Fred G. New, Carla and Steve Jacobson, all of West Valley City. He was preceded in death by his father, Chet New and twin sons, Shane R. New and Shawn R. New. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Fremont, Thursday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
