Rose Sorensen

Richfield, Utah - Minnie Rose Kendall Sorensen died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Richfield, Utah at the age of 80. She was born November 24, 1925 in London, England, a daughter of Ernest Edward and Minnie Rose Lovell Kendall. She lived through the bombings of London during World War II, and often recalled air raids during which she found shelter in the Underground. During the war, she met Christ Glaine Sorensen, an American soldier serving in Europe. Rose and Chris were married September 12, 1944, and she followed him to America - - a war bride, sailing on the Queen Mary with a baby in her arms and another on the way. The couple honeymooned at the Hotel Utah in Salt Lake City. Rose lived most of her4 life in Centerfield, Utah, raising seven sons. She worked as a cook at the Wisteria Café in Gunnison, and as a nurses’ aid and housekeeper at the Mayfield Manor in Mayfield. Chris died January 9, 1982. Rose moved to Richfield in the early 1990'2. Rose is survived by six of her sons: Chris E. Sorensen of Spanish Fork; David and Larene Sorensen of South Jordan; Michael Sorensen, Kendall Sorensen, Paul and Daisy Sorensen, all of Richfield; Stephen and Dana Sorensen of Sigurd; along with sisters and brothers, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, John G. Sorensen and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning one hour prior to the services. At her request, Rose’s remains will be cremated and burial will take place in the Centerfield Cemetery beside her loving husband, Chris. The family thanks the staff of the Richfield Care Center for their help in Rose’s final days.
