Ross Mangrum

July 11, 1951 — October 28, 2013

Aurora, Utah - Our kind and loving husband, father, son and brother, Ross Mangrum, age 62, died October 28, 2013 of complications from an auto accident he had earlier in the week in Richfield. He was born July 11, 1951 in Salina, a son of Dale Ross and Gay Nelson Mangrum. He married Wynona Lynn Freeman, December 31, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, December 31, 2008. Ross grew up in Aurora and always considered Aurora his home. He moved back 10 years ago. Ross was in the National Guard for over 20 years. He served as Battalion Commander in Manti and Fillmore. He retired in 1991. He worked in the Telecommunications Business since 1974, most recently with Century Link. He was active in the LDS Church, teaching the youth in Sunday School and serving as a Home Teacher. He loved the children of the Aurora 2nd Ward. Ross loved joking around. He loved to travel and always enjoyed showing friends and family the beautiful state of Utah. He was a true friend and never met a stranger. He was a man of integrity and was a good influence on his boys and their friends. Ross was an extreme History Buff. He enjoyed reading and learning about past wars and history. He is survived by his wife of Aurora; four sons: Joe Mangrum and Dale Mangrum, both of West Jordan; James Mangrum and Ross Mangrum, both of Aurora; his mother, Gay Mangrum of West Jordan; brother and sister: Keith and Kathy Mangrum of Leamington ; Jill and Blake Nielson of Orem; parents-in-law: Claude and Becky Freeman of South Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-law: Melanie and Bill Julian, Sharon and Dave Willoughby, Clifford Freeman and Sylvia Davenport, all of South Carolina; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 North Main Street in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Friday from 12:00 Noon to 1:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Aurora Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
