Saratoga Springs, Utah - Our beloved, Roy Franklin Ingram Tanner, age 45, died March 11, 2013 at his home in Saratoga Springs, after a short, but brave battle with a rare brain disease. He was born September 14, 1967 in Nephi, Utah, a son of Norman Rex and Cheryl Marie Morris Tanner. He graduated from Cedar City High School, Class of 1985. Roy married Staci Lynn Bowen, December 25, 1987 in Cedar City, Utah. They were later divorced. He served in the United States Army from 1986 to 1993 as a motor transport for the 36th Battalion and then in the Utah National Guard as a Sergeant in the 116th Engineering Company Roy attended the Utah Law Enforcement Academy and worked for the Iron County Sheriff's Department, where he was an officer and served with the Iron County Search and Rescue. He lived in Cedar City until 1993 when he attended Greyhound Professional Driver's College and then went to work for Greyhound for the next 19 years, where he was currently an Area Manager in Salt Lake City. Next to his work for Greyhound, Roy loved his family the most. He is survived by his partner, Michael John Richins of Saratoga Springs; his son, Devin Roy and Shirley Tanner of Midvale; two grandsons: Karson Devin and Tyson Norman Tanner, both of Midvale; his mother, Cheryl Marie LeFevre of Odessa, Texas; sisters and brothers: Audrey Maxine Tanner of Lochbuie, Colorado; Phillip Ollie and Paula Ingram, Kathleen Martha and Carroll Carpenter, all of Odessa, Texas; Barbara Jean Stickley of Aurora, Colorado; Norman Eugene and Brenda Tanner of Redmond, Utah; Orden Rex Tanner of Lyman, Utah; Mayland Rutherford Tanner of Salt Lake City, Utah; Darlene Nina Tanner of Tooele, Utah; Alden Ray Smith of Sterling, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews; two aunts: Ruthaleen "Polly" Knezek of Odessa, Texas; Gwen and Glenn Stephenson of Levan, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Rex Tanner. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, 20 South 100 West in Loa, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. Anyone wishing to attend the funeral services from the Salt Lake City or Utah Valley area, Greyhound Bus Lines will provide a bus, free of charge, leaving the Salt Lake City Greyhound Terminal at 6:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
