Rufus L. Hatch

February 14, 1915 — February 27, 2006

Koosharem, Utah - Rufus Linden Hatch, age 91, passed away February 27, 2006, in Logandale, NV. at the home of his daughter, Sheila (Voy) Matheson, with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at his bedside. He was born February 14, 1915, in Koosharem, Utah a son of Alpheus Oratio and Johannah Olsen Hatch. He married Inace LaVee Christensen, April 8,1943, in the Manti LDS Temple. They would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary this year. He graduated from Manti High School, and served in the California North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a burning testimony of the Gospel and loved sharing it, with not only his family, but anyone and everyone with whom he came in contact. He was even doing missionary work up to the day before he passed away. He loved people, and enjoyed visiting and telling stories to all who would give him of their time. He was a farmer at heart, and loved the smell of fresh cut hay and the taste of fresh cream and milk with LaVee’s fresh home made bread. He worked on the sawmill for Mart Bagley, worked at the Sigurd Gypsum Plant, logged for a time, and worked for UDOT. He is survived by his wife; and children: Linda (Ronald) Haider, Evanston, Wyo.; Jeanette (Robert) Andersen, Gunnison; Marcia (Bruce) Shaheen, St. George; Sheila (Voy) Matheson, Logandale, NV.; Linden (Nancy) Hatch, Spring Creek, NV.; 29 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Potter of Kearns; sisters-in-law: Leida Hatch of Ivins; Faye Taylor of Salina; Faris Hatch of South Jordan. He was proceeded in death by his parents; brothers: Lester LaMar, Vernal, Ellis, Keith, and sisters: LuDella, and Ivie, on whose birthday Rufus passed away. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, at 1 P.M. in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the ward chapel Saturday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Koosharem Cemetery.
