Rusti Nelson

Salina, UT- Our kind and loving mother, Nana, sister and friend, Maria “Rusti” Bernadette Berry Nelson, age 58, passed away unexpectedly the morning of November 1, 2022, peacefully at her home in Salina.

Rusti was born on October 13, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Warren Keith and Cecilia Lucilla Maria Giron Berry. She grew up in Sandy, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School Class of ‘83. She married the love of her life, Brett W. Nelson, October 20, 1995, in Park City, Utah. Together they happily raised their daughter, Shy in Salina, Utah.

Rusti loved listening to music, shopping, planting flowers, tattoos, Marilyn Monroe, decorating her home, writing, reading, giving gifts, and visiting with friends and family.

Rusti is survived by her daughter Shyanne (Sean) Winn of Hurricane, Utah; her four grandsons: Rylund (Jerika) Winn, Coby Winn, Derex Winn and Treven Winn; and her fur baby Mcartni Monroe; her sisters: Joey Sorensen of Aurora; Andrea (Gonzalo) Escobedo of Willits, California; nieces and nephews and Scouty.

Rusti is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brett Nelson; parents, Keith and Cecilia; step-father’s; sister, Shelly Marie; mother and father in law, Boyd and Lorraine Nelson; brother in law, Vergal Sorensen; and Fur Baby Son, Opee Taylor.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 12:00 Noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Salina and Richfield, UT.
