Ruth J. Ervine

February 27, 1941 — March 1, 2012

Salina, Utah - Our kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Ruth Jayne Ervine, age 71, of Salina, passed away March 1, 2012 in Gunnison, Utah, surrounded by her loving family, after a brave and valiant battle with leukemia. She was born February 27, 1941 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Fred Alexander and Susie Eliza Waterman Jayne. She graduated from Wyalusing High School in Wyalusing, PA, Class of 1959. Ruth married Donald Sidney Ervine, December 12, 1959 in Camptown, Pa. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple February 9, 1974. Ruth was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Relief Society Teacher, Counselor in the Relief Socity, Ward Librarian for many years and was a faithful Visiting Teacher. She served as a Girl Scout leader for 12 years and was an active member of the PTA. Ruth enjoyed cooking, canning, flower gardening, sewing, traveling and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her loving husband; children: Deborah and Kenny Poulson, Donald and Belinda Ervine, all of Salina, Utah; Mary and Steven Hoggard of Kaysville, Utah; Nancy and Blaine Porter of Escalante, Utah; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister: Robert and Joan Jayne of Sun City, Florida; Nancy Bennett of Spring Hill, PA; sisters-in-law: Athalie Jayne of Kingman, AZ; Betty Lewis Jayne of Winchester, TN. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Clarence Jayne, Bowen Jayne, Galen Jayne and Betty Chaffee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 12 Noon in the Salina 2nd and 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina, with Bishop Cliff Peterson from the Salina 1st Ward conducting. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
