Ruth O. Hallows

Loa, Utah - Ruth Oldroyd Hallows, 95, passed away on April 22, 2021 in Monroe, Utah. She was born August 24, 1925, in Loa, Utah, to Edwin Archibald and Alberta Okerlund Oldroyd. Ruth grew up in Loa and graduated from Wayne High School and Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City, Utah. Ruth married Lorenzo Duane Hallows on September 15, 1948, in Loa, Utah. They are the parents of seven children: Susan (Brent) Christensen of Circleville; Sally (Darwin) LeFevre (deceased); Gilbert (Flora) of, Loa; Gary (Francine) of Torrey; Denise (Val) Christensen of Rolette, ND; Glen (Nancy) of Evanston, WY; and Ted (Rhonda) of Kamas. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful quilts for all of her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for the many loaves of homemade bread she took to others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Ruth is survived by her husband, six children, 29 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by daughter, Sally LeFevre, granddaughter, Megan LeFevre, her parents, and siblings, George Kay (Shirley) Oldroyd, and Theda Jane (Cliff) Peterson, and sister-in-law Carmel (Ellis) Nielson. The family wishes to thank the staff of Monroe Canyon Assisted Living and Zion’s Way Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Out of concern for those who are not yet vaccinated and those who may be at higher risk for COVID-19, the family invites attendees to wear masks when appropriate.
