Sandra Lynn Rees

Sandra N. Rees Bicknell, Utah - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Sandra Lynn Nelson Rees, was tragically taken from us on Saturday, August 30, 2003 as a result of an ATV accident in Pole Canyon, near her mountain home in Sheep Valley, Utah. She was born December 24, 1948 in Salina, Utah, a daughter of Calvin Lars and Anita Brian Nelson. She grew up in Fremont and graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1967. Sandra married Gaylen Kenneth Rees from Bicknell, March 28, 1969 for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in accounting from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, Utah. Sandra enjoyed being involved in local and state politics. She served 15 years as Wayne County Clerk-Auditor and filled a term as Utah Association of Counties Vice President. She was dedicated to whatever work she was involved with. Sandra was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings including Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School and most recent, MIA Maid Advisor in the Young Women in the Thurber Ward. Sandra was a vital part of the family businesses of Harward and Rees and Royal’s Foodtown Market in Loa. She enjoyed reading, traveling, early mornings, belonging to the Bicknell Literary Club, cooking and spending time with good friends. Her greatest love was taking care of her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Sandra is survived by her husband of Bicknell; children: Ryan and Sarah Rees; Val and Jana Rees, all of Loa; Brig and Patricia Rees, Payson; Rachelle and Jeff Williams, Teasdale; Amanda and Monte Turner, Washington; 11 grandchildren; father, Calvin Lars and Rhea J. Nelson, Loa; brother and sisters: Leon and Becky Nelson, Highland; Diane and Raymond Potter, Torrey; Natalie and Bill Overton, Gallup, New Mexico; Stacie and Deven Gass, Circleville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anita Brian Nelson on February 9, 2000. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Bicknell, Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
