Scott Allen Thorsen

West Valley City/Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved husband, dad, son and brother, Scott Allen Thorsen, age 46, returned home to his Heavenly Father, surrounded by his loved ones on May 5, 2017 at his home in West Valley City, after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. He was born October 21, 1970 in Richfield, Utah, a son of Eric Allen and Judy Howell Thorsen. Scott graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1989. He attended UVSC, NTID (National Institute For The Deaf) and Salt Lake Community College, where he graduated with a "Network Engineer (MCSE)" Certificate. He married the love of his life, Halerie Anne Cleveland, May 21, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Scott was an active member of the LDS Church. He served an American Sign Language Stateside Mission in Knoxville, Tennessee; Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois. He served as an Assistant Scout Master and as a Home Teacher. Scott had a deep love for his wife and son, Travis. Travis was his pride and joy. Scott and Halerie had a relationship based on love, trust and mutual understanding. A reserved man, Scott had a firm belief in people learning American Sign Language (ASL). Scott enjoyed air shows, hunting, computer networking and technology, car shows, watching true documentary movies, martial arts action movies and Big Macs! Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Halerie and their son, Travis, both of West Valley City; parents, Allen and Judy Thorsen of Salina; sister, Rebecca (Douglas) Spencer of Cedar City; 1 nephew and 3 nieces. He is preceded in death by two older brothers; and grandparents: Harry and Midge Thorsen, Albert and LeOra Howell. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salt Lake Valley 2nd ASL Ward, 6250 South 2200 West in Taylorsville, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 12 Noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the graveside. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
