Richfield, Utah - Gary Scott Brown, age 71, of Richfield, died May 19, 2006 in Richfield, Utah. He was born November 24, 1934 in Kanab, Utah, a son of Myron Scott and Farris Hamblin Brown. Scott graduated from Fredonia High School, Class of 1952. He served in the US Navy as a Navy Medical Corpsman in the Korean Theater from 1952 to 1955. He attended Fresno State University in California. Gary worked as a Technical Engineer for the Arizona Department of Transportation for 30 years. He married Vivian (Sami) Sandoval April 10, 1982 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was married to NanNell Smith of Kanab, Utah from 1956 to 1980. They were later divorced. Scott was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic Minister and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Richfield. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion for 51 years. He served on the American Legion Color Guard, and was the State Master of Arms with the American Legion in Arizona for 4 years. He worked with the Arizona Boys State, was a member of the Elks Lodge and he received a Special Olympics Volunteer Award in 1984. Scott enjoyed fishing, skeet shooting, bowling, boating, golfing, gardening and he was an avid reader. Scott and his wife, Sami, moved to Richfield 3 years ago. He is survived by his loving wife, Sami, of Richfield; daughters: Monica Davis of West Jordan, UT; Pam Sanchez of Azusa, CA; Gina and Rick Lynch of Ogden, UT; Michel and Dean Woodbury of Richfield, UT; Karmel Bojorquez of Lake Havasu, AZ; sons: Martin and Patty Sanchez of Cathedral City, CA; David Bojorquez of San Diego, CA; 23 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Ethel and Roland Burks of Ridgecrest, CA; two nephews: Ray Burks and Bill Burks, both of Ridgecrest, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael Frank Brown and a nephew, Jeffery Burks. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 12 Noon in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 810 North Highway 118, in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing one hour prior to the services. Addional Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 224 South Kendrick, in Flagstaff, Arizona. There will be a viewing at 11:30 followed by Rosary at 12 Noon at the Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flagstaff. Burial with military honors accorded by the Flagstaff American Legion Post #3 will be in the Flagstaff Citizen Cemetery Veterans Section under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital in Memphi, Tennessee.
