Scott Hermansen

October 21, 1933 — January 8, 2021

Scott Wayne Hermansen passed away January 8, 2021 at the age of 87. He was born October 21,1933 in Elsinore, Utah to Herman Christian and Ireta Nielsen Hermansen. Scott was always a hard worker. He loved helping his family any way he could. He graduated from South Sevier High School and attended the College of Southern Utah. He married his high school sweetheart Mary Eleen Hansen of Central Valley, Utah on May 29, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. As an Air Force couple, they moved their growing family all over the United States, gaining many wonderful experiences along the way. In 1965 Scott joined the Los Angeles Police Department then later moved to Parowan, Utah, closer to his roots. There, with seven children, he worked and earned his college degree. While in Parowan he taught elementary school and owned his first business, the Parowan Dairy Freeze. The Dairy Freeze ignited a love for business which he never lost. Scott loved joking with his customers and making them happy. After many successful business adventures with restaurants, he and Mary retired. They served two LDS missions, one in Nauvoo, Illinois and then in Greeley, Colorado. After Mary passed away from cancer in 2000, Scott was blessed to reconnect with Lois Rogers, a friend both he and Mary knew from their school days in the Sevier Valley. They were married on August 3, 2001 in the Salt Lake Temple. During their almost 20 years together they were able to travel often. They served a mission in the Rochester - Palmyra, New York Mission. They built two homes together in Monroe and Peoa then eventually settled in Centerville. Together they had 54 grandchildren and 78 great grandchildren. Scott couldn’t have been more embraced by his step children and he loved them back. Scott loved tennis, family get-togethers, trips to St. George, talking with people and especially telling stories about his life. We would like to thank Lois for watching over our father and stepfather during these last years of his life. She selflessly took care of his many needs. Also, a thank you to the VA who took care of him with such respect.  Scott is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Renon (Kelly, deceased) Wood, (Danny Robb), Philip (Lori) Hermansen, Terry (Nancy) Hermansen, Janette (Daniel) Adams, Linda (Kent) Woodruff, Doug (Tamra) Hermansen; his step-children, Ron (Valerie) Hollberg, Steve (Sherry) Hollberg, Brett (Susan) Hollberg, Suzanne (Mike) Evans, Carolyn Bringhurst; and his brother, Lowell Q (Juanita) Hermansen.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ireta Hermansen; his siblings, Carol Mae, (Rusty) Russell, J. Clark, (Doris) Hermansen, and David Philip Hermansen; his wife, Mary and daughter, Myrna Robb.
