Gunnison, Utah - Our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Rulon Sheldon Ellett, age 77, of Gunnison, passed away December 10, 2015 in Gunnison. He was born March 25, 1938 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Rulon Shiner and Bertha Amanda Durfey Ellett. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1956 and went on to get his Master's Degree from Utah State University in 1968 in Economics. He served his country in the US Army from 1960 to 1963. Sheldon married the love of his life, Karen Rae Giles, August 25, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Sheldon served in the LDS Church as Elder's President (The Best Ever); Family Home Evening Co-coordinator for the Gunnison Prison; Secretary in the High Priest Group and Historian for the Gunnison 3rd Ward. Sheldon worked for Kennecott Copper for 35 years and loved every minute of it. He retired in 2002 and moved to Gunnison. He served on the Zoning and Planning Board for Gunnison City. Sheldon enjoyed gardening and loved to share his harvest with family and neighbors. He enjoyed going hunting in the hills behind the family ranch in Bicknell and the time spent with family. His family meant everything to him, and he meant everything to them. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of Gunnison; children Jodi and Johnny Goble, Kyle and Nikki Ellett, all of Gunnison; Greg and Marinia Ellett of Bicknell; Kevin and Tina Ellett of Rockland, Idaho; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mona and Harold Hiskey of Cedar City; Betty D. Taylor of Wasilla, Alaska; Theresa and Dallas Arnell of St. Charles, Idaho; Flora Bell and Brad Chappell of Mapleton; sisters-in-law: Gloria Lemmon of Bicknell; Susan and Carl Bettis of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rulon and Bertha Ellett; his parents-in-law: Henry and Jessie Heaps Giles; and two brothers-in-law: Robert Henry Giles and Vearl Max Taylor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. or Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Graveside services with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Bicknell Cemetery, Thursday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah
