Sheldon K Jacobsen

May 18, 1942 — August 31, 2010

Salina, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Sheldon, passed away at his home in Salina, UT on the morning of August 31. His eternal companion, Guadalupe Hernandez, was with him when he died. Sheldon was born in Salina on May 18th, 1942 to Elmer Rae and Vera Maurine Curtis Jacobsen. He graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1960. He is an LDS Seminary graduate, and attended LDS Business College. He married Guadalupe Hernandez in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, December 20, 1984. Sheldon was a man of many occupations. For most of his life he worked as an independent permit agent for multiple oil exploration companies. For a time he ran a saw mill just outside Salina, UT and he also started his own business raising registered Angus cattle with his wife and sons. In his retirement, he enjoyed bee-keeping, gardening, and his dog Pudding. Sheldon’s love for life motivated him to always stay busy. Sheldon was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served in many church callings such as Ward Mission Leader, Sunday School Presidency, High Priest Group Leadership, and as a Home Teacher. In his ward, he was well-known for his strong testimony and devotion to the gospel. Sheldon always liked a good conversation and loved a good laugh. He was known for his ability to remember names and faces; he always knew you. He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe of Salina; his children: Lee Jacobsen of Provo; Elder Rae Jacobsen currently serving an LDS Mission in the Dominican Republic; Kaden Jacobsen of Redmond; Landon Jacobsen of Redmond; Kamis Mullen of Salina; Stephanie Bagley of Greenwich; Lori Coates of Gunnison, 9 Grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters: Jerald Jacobsen, Janice Jacobsen, Carla Avery, Jolene Peterson, Michael Jacobsen, Rex Jacobsen, and Brent Jacobsen. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 12 Noon at the Salina 2nd Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
