Sherild D. Hickman

Torrey, UT./Las Vegas, NV - Sherild Dez Hickman, age 74, died July 28, 2008 at the home of his daughter, Linda, in Las Vegas, Nevada from a stroke that he suffered on June 22, 2008. He was born July 14, 1934 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Deseret Benjamin and Florence Thelma Holt Hickman. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1953. He married Iva May Pace, June 26, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple. Sherild was active in the LDS Church, serving in the Scouting program and as a faithful Home Teacher. He owned his own business in Las Vegas called Las Vegas Dental for over 25 years. He made friends with the lots of dentists as he would work on repairing their equipment. He enjoyed four wheeling and fishing. He will be greatly missed. Sherild is survived by his wife and companion of 52 years, Iva May Hickman; children: Tammy and Randy Holcomb, Linda and Mike Carlin, Joan and Jim Letner, adopted son, Terry Hickman, all of Las Vegas; Connie Hickman of Torrey; Chris and Andrea Hickman of Layton; 11 grandkids; 14 great-grandkids; a brother, Benny T. and Ina Hickman of Loa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dez and Thelma Hickman; two daughters: Kathy Hickman Anderson, who was married to David Anderson, and Cheryl Lynn Hickman; also two sisters: Shirley Hickman; Bernece and Verl C. Black. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
