Shirley Ann Mickelsen

June 30, 1934 — May 29, 2019

Salina, Utah - Shirley Ann Shaw Mickelsen, wonderful, kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and special friend to all, age 84, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 29, 2019 at her home in Salina. She was born June 30, 1934 in Venice, Utah, to Lawrence W. and Doris LaPreal Hendrickson Shaw. Shirley attended school in Venice and Richfield and graduated from Richfield High School. She married the love of her life, McKay Mickelsen December 18, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death November 8, 2017. They were blessed with six children. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in Venice. She milked cows, helped on the farm, loved ice skating and especially riding horses, which lead her to meeting the man of her dreams. They spent many happy years in Orem before returning to Salina. Mom's life was defined by her service and love to her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mom and dad's love for the mountains and camping brought many special memories to all of us in the family!! Mom worked to help support her sons on their missions. Mom had many special talents: growing flowers, cooking, baking and canning. One of her favorite things was crocheting numerous afghans for grandchildren as well as making intricate Christmas stocking for each family member which is close to 170 stockings. Mom served in various church callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are blessed to know that Mom and Dad are reunited to continue their love story eternally. She is survived by her children: Dennis McKay and Leslie Mickelsen of Beaver; Ira Kent and Kris Mickelsen of Aurora; Analee (James, deceased) Mickelsen of Riverton; Linda Ann and Bart Kiesel of Salina; Cindy Kay and Scott Larsen of Nephi; Steven Fred and Donna Mickelsen of Aurora; 41 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; a sister, Lorraine (John, deceased) Black of Boise, Idaho; and a sister-in-law: Shirley Shaw of Koosharem. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Leon C. and Erneice Shaw, Donald Shaw, Verdon L. and Maurine Shaw, Renee Doris and Phil Nielson, Virgil DeLoy and Helen Shaw; a son, James L. Mickelsen and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Rose Kiesel.
