Shirley Joy Allen

September 28, 1931 — July 25, 2006

Lyman, Utah - Shirley Joy Brown Allen, of Lyman, Utah, passed away in Provo, Utah on July 25, 2006 at the age of 74. S She was born September 28, 1931 in Koosharem, Utah, a daughter of David Alma and Ethel Myrl Petersen Brown. She married Eugene Allen, October 3, 1949 in the Manti LDS Temple. They started their life on the ranch outside of Lyman. They later moved to Henderson, Nevada then returned to Lyman where they spent their lives, farming and ranching Horse Valley. Even though she was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis at a young age, Shirley was able to overcome her disabilities by using her hands to do beautiful needle point and crocheting; however, the love of her life was gardening. Shirley was well known for her beautiful flower gardens and yard. Shirley dedicated her life to serving others. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many auxiliaries. She is survived by her husband, Eugene of Lyman; children: Carol Jean Meinhardt of Delta; Robert David (Leigh Ann, fiancee) Allen, of Sandy; Colleen (Neal) Brinkerhoff of Bicknell; Randall Eugene Allen of Central Valley; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister: Hazel Gunderson of Mt. Pleasant; brother: Calvin Reed Brown of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Grant Brown, Hugh Brown, Royal Brown, and sisters: Francis Brown, Thelma Brown, Crystal Baker, Byrl Doland and Ruby Bradfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
