Sue P. Nicholson

October 25, 1930 — October 8, 2015

Teasdale, Utah - Betty Sue Plum Nicholson Gray, our dear Mama Sue passed away peacefully during the early morning of October the 8th 2015, in Ivins, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born October 25, 1930 in El Dorado, Arkansas and later moved to Utah as a young girl. She attended West High School and graduated from the University of Utah, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and History and a Master’s in Counseling. She married the Love of Her Life; David Nicholson in 1955. They raised three wonderful sons. Those sons gave her three granddaughters and they were the pride and joy of her life. Later in life Sue married her Partner in Life; Eric Gray and together they transformed their Fish Creek Cove acreage into a horse haven, a hobby they loved sharing. She taught in the Utah schools, and retired from Glendale Jr. High. She loved teaching and found joy in all sports. She not only taught a variety of sports, she also taught good sportsmanship. Her love was as abundant as her energy. She had a passion for helping people, and she influenced generations. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, coach, teacher and friend. Mama Sue's legacy will live on in all the people she loved. We will remember her by the songs she taught us, the laughter we shared in good times, and the lifelong example she gave us of unconditional love and acceptance of all people. Being a member of Christ’s church brought Sue much joy and she continually confessed her love of Christ to all of those she came in contact with. She loved the Savior and truly lived His greatest commandment to love one another. Sue always spoke of the joy she would have on that glorious day she would be reunited with Him. She leaves behind her husband Eric, her sister Jena, sons David and Mike, daughter-in-law Karen, three granddaughters Tara (Spence), Carli (Justin), and Grace (Alex), five great grandchildren Jordyn, Kyson, Lucy, Aida and Jaxon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband David, her brothers Bus and Porky, her youngest son John and many of her dear friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24th at 1:00 pm at the Torrey LDS Ward Chapel, Torrey, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
