Susanna B. Schumann

July 23, 1928 — December 22, 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all, Susanna Ballard Schumann, age 87, died peacefully in her home on the 22nd of December, 2015 after battling congestive heart failure. Susanna was born to James Monroe Ballard and Maude Wright Ballard on the 23rd of July, 1928 in Hurricane, Utah. Susanna was married to the late George Amos Schumann on May 22nd, 1947 in the Logan Latter Day Saint Temple. Susanna and George had 6 children, Carolyn Jenkins who is no longer living; Monte Schumann and wife, Danawn of British Columbia, Canada; Mark Schumann who is no longer living; Paul Schumann of British Columbia, Canada; Georgana Hunter and husband, Brian Hunter of Ogden, Utah; and Sondra Shepherd and her husband, Kerry Shepherd of Richfield, Utah. In addition to their 6 children George and Susy have 22 grand-children, 44 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild. Susanna is survived by her brother, Doyle Ballard of Redding, California; her sister, Leda Trapp of Redding, California; and her sister Myrna Miller of Wells, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Dell Naegle, James Lavan Ballard and Don Ballard. Susanna spent her life in the service of others. She tirelessly fostered a personal relationship with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was interested, respectful and forgiving to everyone she came in contact with and made every effort to lighten their load and promote good decisions that would result in joyful living. Susanna loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as Relief Society President, Sunday School Teacher, Family Relations Teacher, Primary Teacher, Ward Librarian, Visiting Teacher and Visiting Teacher Supervisor. Susanna loved to be outdoors and always had enviable flower gardens. She also loved her home and provided a warm and welcoming haven for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Richfield 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 655 West 200 South in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel Tuesday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. Susanna’s request is that instead of flowers, donations be made to the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund in remembrance of her.
