Sylvia Anna Dotson

Florence, Arizona/Venice, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Sylvia Anna Griffiths Dotson, age 72, died September 4, 2010 in Florence, Arizona. She was born June 8, 1938 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of William Isaac and Anna Pearl Froisland Griffiths. She attended Provo High School. She married Robert Gary Dotson, January 14, 1956 in Provo, Utah. Sylvia enjoyed music, in particular, playing the violin, guitar and mandolin. She went back to school at the age of 49 and graduated magma cum laud at the age of 52 with a BS in Sociology from Southern Utah University in Cedar City. She is survived by her husband, Gary Dotson, of Florence; children: Robert and Rebecca Dotson of Queen Creek, AZ; Chardale and Walt Irvine of Bend, OR; Sherone and Ron Taylor of Evanston, WY; Shaun and Chad Horton of Chandler, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Patricia and Lyman Campbell, Linda Gillman, Gayle Aguair, David and Barbara Griffiths. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Isaac Griffiths and Anna Pearl Griffiths; a son, Lamar “Maury” Dotson, brothers; Richard Griffiths and Evan Griffiths. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Venice LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Venice Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
