Ted Burr

January 3, 1920 — July 3, 2008

Salina, Utah – Our kind father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend Theodore “Ted” Henry Burr, age 88, was reunited with his beloved wife and son on Thursday, July 3, 2008. He “passed-on” at his residence in Salina surrounded by his family and loved ones. Ted was born on January 3, 1920 in Salina, UT to Gilbert Morse and Catherine Luella Olsen Burr. He was the fourth of five children. Ted married Geneive Lucy Kane in the Burr house in Salina, Utah on July 31, 1940. Ted served in the United States Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge in October of 1945. Ted was a successful entrepreneur who has thrived in both commercial businesses and real-estate investments, including owning and operating a Chevrolet car dealership in Salina, Utah for many years. Ted also has a reputation for always being willing to help anyone in need. He loved working on his farm and collecting the endless supply of rocks (Ted would joke that the farm produced more rocks then hay). He loved hunting and spending any time he could in the outdoors. He was also well recognized as a top-notch cattleman with an amazing ability to nurture and raise young calves. Ted is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Kelly) Laier and daughter-in-law, Barbara Burr; 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Brenda, Trent, Troy, Monette, and Morgan; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and a step-brother, Glen Palmer. Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Genny Burr; his son, Michael Burr; his parents; and 4 siblings, Morse Burr, Ardys Crane, Lee Burr, and Beth Jackson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
