Salina, Utah - Ted W. Sorensen, age 82, prominent Salina businessman and former Sevier County Commissioner, died May 17, 2006 in Richfield, Utah. He was born January 18, 1924 in Richfield, Utah, a son of George W. and Mary Lorena Sorensen Sorensen. Ted served his country during WW II in the US Navy. He married Mary Joleen Smith, July 21, 1947 in Salina, Utah. She died October 26, 1999. He was owner and operator of Sorensen Electric Company in Salina since 1947. He was very active in the community, a member of the Salina American Legion Post and the Richfield Elks Lodge. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children: Teddy Lyn and Dale Spendlove of Orem; Kim Sorensen of Salina; Suzette and Dennis Giles of Mesa, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sue Ann and 12 siblings. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 22, 2006 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, located at 85 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the stake center, Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Salina American Legion Post #36 will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
