Terry Dee Nelson

November 6, 1959 — May 8, 2024

Terry returned home to the arms of his loving Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on May 8, 2024, at the age of 64, surrounded by his wife and children in Monroe, Utah.


He was born November 6, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Noell and Shirley Nelson. He is the youngest of six siblings.


His roots are in Bluffdale, Utah. He attended Bingham High School.


He married his sweetheart Helly Kunz on June 1, 1979. Their love for each other is forever. They were married for 45 years. Together they created five beautiful children. Jeremiah (Kristy) Nelson, Jamie (Steve) Rentmeister, Melissa (Nate) Mendenhall, Cami (Cameron) Spellman, Callie (Wyatt) Schiffman.


His life passion from a young age was horses. His first horse was a Shetland "Ginger". His love for horses grew throughout his lifetime. He created a riding stables and riding arena in Bluffdale. He was a guide for hire where he did pack in trips on horses into the High Uintas. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved desert racing, hunting, fishing, boating, scuba diving, and riding his Harley's. He was an artist on paper with painting, drawing, and coloring.


He was naturally gifted with the skill of operating heavy equipment. He was a visionary and could take any piece of land and turn it into a masterpiece. He owned and operated his construction companies. He had great love of the land in farming and growing alfalfa.


His pride and joy were his family, they meant everything to him. He had a special bond with each of his eleven grandchildren, Madyson, Tristan, RykerLee, O'ryann, Natalya, Stevie, Quincy, Bexley, Sylis, Roland and Lillian.


He dearly loved his pets, especially his Chihuahua "Filipe", who greeted him in Heaven.


He loved western movies. Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns were his favorite. He loved cracking jokes and quoting movie lines. "You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig." - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.


He loved cookies, waffles and Helly's homemade Mexican food.


Preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Ann Thomas Nelson.


Survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.


He was a kind and generous man and a friend to all. In honor of Papa, please wear your cowboy boots and blue jeans.


Celebration of Terry's life will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 12:00 Noon in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Utah 84701, where family and friends may visit with the family from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services.


Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery 650 North Washburnville Road Monroe, Utah 84754 under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
