Thelma T. Behunin

August 28, 1913 — December 5, 2015

Thelma Elizabeth Taylor Behunin, age 102, passed away December 5, 2015 in Sandy, Utah. She was born 28 August 1913 in Fremont, Utah a daughter of George Irvin and Katherine Butler Taylor. She graduated from Wayne High School. She married Matthew Erval Behunin May 11, 1933 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, 26 April 1937. She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life. Thelma held many positions of trust as she served as President of the Relief Society, Primary and Young Women as well as other callings. Thelma and Matt served as Stake Dance Directors. She sang in the ward choir and with the Singing Mothers in the Tabernacle for General Conference. Thelma and Matt served a mission together in 1979, in Ireland and Arizona. She served for 8 years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Thelma was a hard worker; she made many quilts and planted a large garden every year. She filled her shelves with hundreds of jars of fruit and vegetables. Thelma worked at Beehive Clothing about ten years before retiring to go on her mission. She loved to sew, garden, dance and sing. Thelma had the amazing skill of being able to say the alphabet backwards, something she maintained until she passed away. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Sandy Health and Rehab for their love and care of our beloved Mother. Thelma is survived by their children, Barbara (James) Aitken ,Payson, Ut; Arlo Dean (Myrna) Behunin, South Jordan, Ut.; Albert Verlan (Donna) Behunin, Junction, Ut., Oral (Dorothy) Behunin, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Darrell Matthew(Mary) Behunin, Shelley, Idaho; Bonnie Jean (Kelby) Davis, Hyrum, Ut.; She is the Grandmother of 30 Grandchildren, 100 Great-Grand children and 17 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and all her siblings; Brothers; George Alma, Albert William, Kenneth James, Weldon Butler, LaVern Ray, and Harold Varr Taylor; Sisters, Melda Nelson and Leah Opal Covington. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 11, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the South Jordan LDS Stake Center at 2450 West 10400 South, in South Jordan, Utah, where friends may call for viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery, Fremont, Utah on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
