Thora C. Ottley

Aurora, Utah - Thora Dean Christensen Ottley, age 86, passed away March 31, 2015 in West Jordan, Utah. She was born May 21, 1928 in Aurora, a daughter of Wallen Lorenzo and Gertrude Andrews Christensen. She married Ernest Quentin Ottley April 18, 1947 in Salt Lake City Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, May 12 1961. Quentin passed away April 10, 2009. Thora worked in the home raising their 8 children, she was an extraordinary homemaker and was always assisting others in the community. Thora served in many church assignments, but very much enjoyed working in the Manti Temple with her husband. She also served as the Relief Society President, Chorister, Family History and Correctional Facility Missionary, Bishops Store House, and was always doing service for others in Compassionate Service. She also was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved Music and played several instruments (Piano, Guitar, and Harmonica) and performed on many occasions, she loved singing with the Double Trio ladies and was part of the Singing Mothers Group. She did magnificent handiwork such as quilts, canning, gardening and all types of crafts. Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her eight children, Sandra and Gordon Bosh of Murray; Brad and Gail Ottley of West Valley City; Corinne and Marvin Jackson of Oklahoma; Dean and Leilani Ottley of Lehi; Lecia (Friend Ava Naisbitt) Ottley, of Roy; Ellen and Kendall Walden of Centerville; Yvonne Ottley, Jeanie and Cary Smith, all of Ogden; 28 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Eunice Cadwallader of Provo; Donetta Reid of West Jordan; Maynard Christensen of Springville; Barbara Sanderson of Gunnison and Terry Christensen of Centerfield. She was preceded in death by her Husband Ernest Quentin Ottley; 1 sister Elnita Watts; a grandson Jeremy Ottley; a great-granddaughter, Eden Anne Beesle; and a son-in-law, Marvin Jackson. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
