Tony Hafen

St. George, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Anthony Paul “Tony” Hafen, age 80, a St. George native, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He was born August 5, 1931 in St. George, a son of Paul Adolph and Helen Forsha Hafen. He grew up in St. George, attending Dixie High School. Tony served his country during the Korean Conflict, serving in the 213th Field Artillery Unit of the Army National Guard. After the war, he joined the 222nd Field Artillery Unit of the Utah National Guard and retired after 35 years of honorable and faithful service. He married the love of his life, Beulah Hunt, December 24, 1986 in St. George. Tony excelled at hunting and fishing, experiencing his love of both with his family and friends. He was always there when someone needed a helping hand. For the past several years, Tony was a great care-giver to his beloved wife Beulah. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, of St. George; his children: Debra and Steven Wood of Farmington; Diane and Chuck Cluff, Anthony “Muggy” and Jill Hafen, all of Emmett, Idaho; Buster and Paula Hafen of West Bountiful; step-children: Gregory C. Peterson of Pocatello, Idaho; Weston H. and Rachelle Peterson of Central; Debra A. and Brad Nielson of Elsinore; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen and Linda Hafen of Heber City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Paul Hafen; a son, Paul Hafen and a sister Pauline Nielson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, in St. George, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Utah, Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. or at the Metcalf Mortuary in St. George, Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Lester Keate American Legion Post #90 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
