Tonya Gutke

Magna, Utah - Tonya Gutke, 49, our loving daughter, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on July 2, 2021 surrounded by her family following a short battle with cancer. She was born on August 28, 1971 to Jerrold Lynn Gutke and Edra Durfey. Tonya grew up in Sandy, Utah with her 4 brothers and sister. She graduated from Alta High School in 1989. She married Robert Maestas; later divorced. July 1994, Tonya was exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning while camping. As a result, she suffered with severe long-term neurological problems. Although she struggled, she persevered through life, and made the best of everyday. Always striving to keep her independence. She enjoyed the many years she spent as a retail cashier. Tonya had a heart of gold, she loved to sing and dance. She always took the time to make sure her family and friends were loved and encouraged everyone to do the right thing. The love for her family will carry on in our hearts forever. “Just Follow the Yellow Brick Road”. Tonya is survived by her father, Jerrold Lynn Gutke, stepmother Audrey Jackson Gutke, her siblings Michael Lynn Gutke, Troy Lynn Gutke (Cami), Renon Gutke Erickson (Kelly), Roger Lynn Gutke (Melissa), and Rodney Lynn Gutke (Kelli). Nieces, Nephews, and many special friends she touched throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edra Durfey and a still-born baby boy that she was excited to meet on the other side. Graveside service will be held on her birthday August 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm. in the Teasdale Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
