Trina Hancock

March 7, 1962 — March 15, 2009

Salina, Utah - Trina Marie finally succumbed to her fight with breast cancer in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 15, 2009 at her home in Salina. When Trina first found out she had breast cancer, she was determined to fight with all her strength and might. A quote from Dr. Seuss sums up her attitude: “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” Trina swung that bat clear up to her last moments. She was born March 7, 1962 in Rexburg, Idaho, a daughter of Jay Lloy and Sharon Richards Romrell. Trina enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, walks at the end of the day, city lights, sitting in the sun, camping, Christmas lights, Christmas trees and being with family. Trina graduated from American Fork High School, Class of 1980. She married William “Bill” Clyde Hancock, March 12, 1982 in Highland, Utah and later sealed for all time and eternity in the Manti LDS Temple. Trina’s pleasure in life was bringing joy and peace to her two boys, Dedrick and Cody. However, her greatest joy came from Kaylee, her granddaughter. Grandma Trina will miss you Kaylee! “People come and go, pain comes and goes. But so does joy. And if our hearts are closed because we don’t want to suffer, they won’t be open enough to recognized the joy as it flies by.” Quote by Geneen Roth. Trina was our joy and we’re so much the better for not missing her flight. Trina is survived by her husband, Bill, of Salina; sons: Dedrick and Mindy Hancock of Salina; Cody Hancock of Richfield; granddaughter, Kaylee Hancock of Salina; parents: Jay and Elynor Romrell of Alpine; Sharon Mead of Richfield; mother-in-law: Cecilia Uden of Joseph; brothers and sisters: Lloy and Diane Romrell of West Jordan; Scott and Sandy Verde of Alpine; Troy and Laura Verde of Salt Lake City; Brandon and Misty Verde of Saratoga Springs; Angie Whytock, J’Nette and Steven Bonner, all of Salt Lake City; Coleen and Scott Hayes of Alpine; Lorie and Dan Felix of Springville; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wade Verde. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Salina 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina.
