Troy L Taylor

May 17, 1965 — July 11, 2010

Salina, Utah - Our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend Troy L Taylor, age 45, returned to his Heavenly Father, peacefully at his home in Salina, on Sunday, July 11, 2010 surrounded by his family. Troy was born on May 17, 1965 in Salina, a son of Brent L. and Barbara Burr Taylor. He was the second of four children, causing an extra stir in the family when he followed his twin-brother in birth by a few minutes. Troy graduated from North Sevier High School in 1983 with top honors and later continued his education at Snow College and Utah State University, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering with Cum Laude honors. While at college, Troy excelled in all of his curricular activities often leading teams in school projects, organizing fellow students into what would become the best study teams in the University, and providing encouragement and support to all his colleagues through his positive attitude and outgoing personality. Troy also found enjoyment through several extra-curricular activities including serving as President of the school chapter of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), one of the leading industry organization for Electrical Engineers. Troy also served as the President of the school capture of Tau Beta Pi, a National Honor Society for all engineering disciplines. Troy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in various positions. Troy loved the temple, and attended often throughout his life. One of Troy’s great passions in life was being in the mountains. He needed very little excuse to spend time enjoying the beauty of nature. He was a dedicated and avid hunter, spending many mornings sitting on a mountain at first light waiting for the “big buck” to wander over the ridge. Troy had faced a 13 year long battle with a cancerous brain tumor, followed by a series of surgical procedures and treatments. The experiences left Troy as well as the family permanently changed, with innumerable positive changes occurring in all of us. This was truly one of our family’s defining moments! Troy is survived by his parents Barbara (Kelly) Laier and Brent (Pam) Taylor, as well as his twin-brother Trent (Dani) Taylor, his sister Monette (Troy) Christensen, and youngest brother Morgan (Caroline) Taylor, as well as many additional close friends, relatives, and extended family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 am prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
