Richfield, Utah – Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Trudie Kae Zabriskie Nielson, age 71, passed away April 4, 2020 in Richfield. She was born March 20, 1949 in Panguitch, Utah, a daughter of Mayo Orel and Julia Helen Willis Zabriskie. In Junior High, she was on the Drill Team and was a Cheerleader all four years of High School in Colorado. She graduated from Interior High School in Interior, South Dakota, Class of 1967. She studied cosmetology at the Sevier Valley Tech in Richfield in 1968. Trudie married the love of her life David Jay Nielson August 13, 1968 in Richfield. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2016. Trudie is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She started working at the Cedar Pasted Lodge as a salad girl when she was 15 years old and has been a hard worker ever since. She worked at the Grand Western Cafe in Richfield as a cook and waitress for many years, and also worked at the Sevier County Jail, cooking for the inmates. Trudie worked at Premium Oil in Richfield for the past 20 years. She was everyone’s “Momma Trudie”, always had a listening ear, and would take the time to visit and get to know her customers. She was loved by everyone that she came in contact with, whether at work or downtown at the grocery store. Trudie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading and riding ATV’s, but her favorite thing to do was chasing her grandbabies around. All children loved Trudie and she loved them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace Momma Trudie. Trudie is survived by her son, Matthew and his wife, Sam Nielson, of Richfield; two grandsons, Rylan and Hendrix Nielson of Richfield; two sisters: Debra and Doug Heideman of St. George; Vanetta and Vance Brinkerhoff of Torrey; and a sister-in-law, Pam and Roger Orton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Mayo Zabriskie; her parents-in-law, Phillip and Renee Nielson; her husband, David; and a sister, Orla Gae Zabriskie. Because of the COVID 19 crisis, there will be no public services. Close friends and family are invited to a viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers or donations, and to honor Trudie’s life, please find someone in need and share something you have with them, even if it’s just a smile. At her request, she will be cremated and burial will be at the Widtsoe Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
