Bicknell, Utah - Una Lucy Barron Pace, age 90, of Bicknell, died of causes incident to age in the Richfield Rehabilitation and Care Center, January 3, 2015. She was born June 19, 1924 in Vermillion, Utah, (now part of Sigurd Town) a daughter of Homer Hezekiah and Anna Lucile Strange Barron. She graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1942 and then attended a year of study at the Branch Agriculture College, (now Southern Utah University) in Cedar City. She was elected Queen of the annual Harvest Ball, and was popular with her classmates. She worked at the Richfield Telluride Electrical Co. as a Secretary. She married Ralph Dee Pace, September 4, 1945 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died October 31, 2004. They were the parents of three sons. She had to wait for her sons to marry before she had any daughters, but she loved them as her own. Una was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a teacher in the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Society, Primary and Sunday School, a Counselor in the Relief Society Presidency, and supported her husband in his Church callings. She kept her house and sons immaculate, was careful in her management and was known for her home-made bread and chocolate cake. She was an example of trust and efficiency. She read to her children every night when they were small and encouraged learning, both in school and out. She set high standards of behavior for herself and her family. Her family was her greatest treasure and that extended to her parents and siblings, nieces, nephews, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Perhaps she was a little partial to the little girls, but that's only fair. She was a great 'Boy Mom'. She kept herself as neat as her home, and appreciated the friendship and care of her hair-dressers. Una is survived by her children: Jeff B. and Jennifer Pace, Paul W. and Elizabeth B. Pace, all of Bicknell; David R. and Karen G. Pace of Richfield; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bruce Ashman of West Lafayette, Indiana; sisters-in-law: Louise Barron of Sandy, Barbara Barron of Highland; Priscilla Anderson of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lucile Barron; a granddaughter, Paula Diane Pace; and brothers: Howard, June, Art and Gordon; sister, Maxine; brothers and sisters-in-law: Warren Anderson, Mack and Nanna Lee Pace, and LaVerda Barron. We as a family, would like to thank her doctors, special home health care providers, the staffs of the Sevier Valley Medical Center and the Richfield Rehabilitation and Care Center, and the many friends and neighbors for their loving kindness and professionalism. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
