ValDean H. Priester Sandy, Utah - Our beloved wife, sister and aunt, Val Dean Hales Priester, age 61, died Monday, June 23, 2003 in Salt Lake City. She was born May 8, 1942 in Redmond, Utah, a daughter of Dean Harvey and Valda Bosshardt Hales. She married Olin Lee Priester, February 17, 1962 in Salina, Utah. ValDean and Olin had one son, Lance Olin Priester. They lived in Sandy, Utah where ValDean worked for the past 25 years at Sunrise Elementary School as a nutritional technologist. ValDean loved the children at Sunrise, the children in her ward and in her neighborhood. She is affectionately called “Aunt Nanny” by her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Val Dean was a member of the LDS Church and she served faithfully in many callings. She could not do enough to help those around her. ValDean is survived by her husband, Olin Lee Priester, of Sandy; 2 sisters and 1 brother: LaReen and Bruce Littlewood of Midvale, Pat and Regde Jensen of Gunnison, Maloy and Robyn Hales of Ogden, 11 nieces and nephews, 29 grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Lance Olin Priester; parents, Dean and Valda Hales, and one sister, Nila Hales. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2003 at 9:00 A.M. in the Cresent 5th LDS Ward Chapel, located at 1050 East 10600 South in Sandy, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and Friday morning one hour prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will be Friday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. in the Redmond Cemetery, Redmond, Utah, under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah
