Vaudis Jorgensen

July 30, 1913 — March 23, 2006

Centerfield, Utah - Vaudis was born July 30, 1913 in Murray, Utah to Hyrum and Annie Eliason Elmen. She passed away on March 23, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband, Clement, of 74 years by her side. “Grandma Great” attended school in Murray, and then later moved to Magna and attended Cyprus High School. Vaudis met and married Carl Clement Jorgensen in Richfield, Utah on July 8, 1932. She was a member of the LDS Church and she served in the Relief Society organization, helping with many quilting projects. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many wonderful memories for her children and grandchildren with her hands, including beautiful afghans for many. Vaudis is the first of hers and Clements immediate posterity to pass away. She is survived by her husband; three children: ArLou and Robert Edwards of Centerfield; Kay and LaRee Jorgensen of Cedar City; Karen and Russell Childs of Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Ronald and Beverly Elmen of Kearns. In addition, Vaudis was friend and grandma to 25 exchange and foster children. Family was extremely important to Vaudis and she made it her own personal goal to know and remember the names of every member of her family, and to the end, she knew everyone. It was her delight to hold and know the little ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Lenora Olsen and Melba Thomas; her brothers, Wayne and Lawrence. Grandma was a peacmaker....her love of her family was unconditional. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, at 1:00 P.M. in the Centerfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. The family would like to thank Michelle, Donna and the rest of the staff at Avalon Valley Rehabilitation Center in Salt Lake City, for their care of Grandma Great.
