Vauna W. Peterson

Vauna W. Peterson Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Vauna Wood Peterson, age 78, died August 14, 2004 in Mayfield, Utah. She was born July 21, 1926 in Herriman, Utah, a daughter of Melvin and Norma Jones Wood. When she was but an infant, her father died and her mother married Orvil Freeman, whom she learned to love as her own father. She was raised in Herriman and later moved to Salt Lake City, where she graduated from Jordan High School, Class of 1944. She married Russell Street and they were later divorced. She married Howard L. Peterson, June 30, 1970 in Elko, Nevada. He died July 19, 1998. Vauna worked at the Grand Central Store in Salt Lake City for many years. After their retirement, Howard and Vauna moved to Salina and then to St. George. She is survived by her children: Vaughn and Roxanne Street of California; Dan Street of Salt Lake City; Karla and Jerry Potter of West Jordan; Wayland (Deceased) and Teresa Peterson, Linda and Terry Campos, all of West Valley City; Diane Peterson of Murray; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Freeman and Clifton Freeman. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. in the Salina LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. We wish to express our appreciation for all the kind and loving care from dear friends in St. George, the Beehive House in West Jordan and the Mayfield Community Care Center. There truly are “angels among us”.
