Vee Daun Romero

September 18, 1933 — September 25, 2022

Monroe, Utah – Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Vee Daun Wilkinson Romero, passed away on September 25, 2022, just one week after her 89th birthday.

Vee Daun was born in Koosharem, Utah on September 18th, 1933 to Brose L. and Vee Nielson Wilkinson, one of nine children. She attended school in Richfield, graduating from Richfield High School with the class of 1951, and later attended Snow College. In 1950 she moved to New Mexico where she met and married Tommy G. Romero and raised her family. He passed away on May 26, 1996. After spending 18 months as a missionary in the London South Mission, she returned to Sevier County and lived in Monroe until her passing.

Vee Daun was an incredibly talented person with many interests. She was very active and loved being outside and the local area that she called home. She enjoyed birdwatching, going on nature rides, and working as a tour guide in Sevier County. She was an avid fair participant in New Mexico as well as Sevier County and she passed this on to her children and grandchildren. Her divinity candy earned awards for many years, and she continued to participate in the local fair until as recently as last year. She was a top-notch homemaker and enjoyed sharing her talents in the form of sewing, knitting, baking, canning, candy and costume making. She loved music and enjoyed singing and playing steel guitar. She liked to play cards and dominoes, watch game shows (especially Jeopardy), and caring for and grooming dogs. Her greatest love was for her family and her dear friends. She took every opportunity to attend games and concerts and spend time with the people she cared about.

Vee Daun was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings in the Relief Society, as a primary teacher, a Manti Temple worker, secretary in the stake primary presidency, and as a missionary. She had a loving heart and was always serving and helping others in whatever capacity she could, including working as a school volunteer, a bus driver for school activities, and compassionate service, delivering hundreds of meals and plates of baked goods for those in need. Her testimony, faith, and love of God was central in her life and will continue to impact her family and serve as an anchor to them until they can be with her again.

Vee Daun is survived by her children: Robin (Bill) Ables, Jerry (Nancy) Rasmussen, Shelly Sorensen, Steven (Brenda) Rasmussen, Randy (Cathy) Rasmussen, George Ann (Joe) Jaramillo, Jana Romero, Tammy (Michael Roy) Valenzuela, Anita (Bob) Gary; her siblings: Don (Peggy) Wilkinson, Paul Wilkinson, Joe (Laura) Wilkinson, Richard (Jamie) Wilkinson, Susan Wilkinson, Dee (Don) Jacobson; her sister cousin: Rae Lynn; 46 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Leland E. Wilkinson, Milton J. Wilkinson, and Steve B. Wilkinson; her sons: Jaime Don Romero and Robert Rasmussen.
