Salina, Utah - Veola Vaun Levie Harrison died November 27, 2018 at her home in Salina, Utah at the age of 89. She was born December 8, 1928 in Sevier, Utah to goodly parents, James L. Levie and Elma M. Moore. She married Marion Leo Harrison on September 5, 1950 in the Manti Temple. Together they had three children: Vance Levie Harrison, LaVaun Harrison and James L. Harrison. Veola Vaun graduated from Brigham Young University in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in the college of "Foods and Nutrition". After her marriage she continued her education studies and obtained an Elementary Education Teaching Certificate and taught in the Utah and Wyoming elementary school systems for 18 years. She graduated from Brigham Young University two years before her husband. She taught classes and was instrumental in formulating the first "Food and Nutrition" curriculum course which became part of the nursing vocational training course in Provo, Utah. Veola Vaun's greatest goal in life was to be a good wife and mother. She was always an excellent spiritual and moral example for her family and posterity. She enjoyed homemaking, music, gardening and canning, writing poetry, reading uplifting books, preparing programs and entertainment for her church and community centers. She held many church positions. She enjoyed community activities and was a long-time member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Veola Vaun is survived by her husband, Marion L. Harrison, sister Macel (David) Foster, son Vance L. Harrison, daughter LaVaun (John) Hulterstrom, son James L. Harrison (Julie). Fifteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She also had a foster sister, Martha Jose. Juan and Mirna Merlos and family, who came from El Salvador, have become adopted family members. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Salina Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 87 South 100 East in Salina, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main, Salina, Utah, on Friday, December 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
