Verda P. Beach “Avid and Gifted Quilter” Salina, Utah - Verda Peterson Beach, age 83, of Salina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2003 in Richfield, Utah. She was born November 29, 1919 in Salina, a daughter of Lars Peter and Lydia Elizabeth Fenn Peterson. She was the third of nine children. She married Clyde Beach, November 9, 1936 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 6, 1964. He died March 4, 1991. Verda was an active member of the LDS Church, where she was a very faithful visiting teacher. She was a very loving and gifted mother, who worked hard all of her life. She was a very gifted quilter and made hundreds of quilts, all sizes and all types. She loved working with her hands, doing crochet, knitting and embroidery work. She loved to fish and usually out fished anyone who would fish with her, including her husband. She is survived by her three sons: Bruce and Deanna Beach, Salt Lake City; Neil and Janet Beach, Chad and SusAnn Beach, all of Salina; 16 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Vivian Williams, Norma (Art) Robinson and Naoma Rasmussen, all Salina; 1 brother: Wallace (Janell) Peterson, West Jordan, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters, Brenda and Marie; four brothers: Blair Peterson, Howard Peterson, Miles Peterson and Wayland Peterson. As a family, we give great thanks to the staff at the Richfield Care Center for the loving care they have given our Mom for the past six years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street, in Salina, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the Stake Center, Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
