Fremont, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Vernon LeRoy Jackson, age 76, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home in Levan of a massive heart attack. He was born May 26, 1939 in Fremont, Utah, a son of Perry LeRoy and Shirley Faun Durfee Jackson. He grew up in Wayne County and graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1957. He married Ruby Virginia Moffett, December 4, 1959 in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they had four children, Johnny, Dennis, Don and Angie. They were later divorced. He married Leslie Ellen Powell in Las Vegas, Nevada and they later divorced. He then married Sherral Ann Butcher Sharples, May 25, 1995 in Fremont, Utah. Vern was a member of the LDS Church. He worked as an Electrician for Kennecott Copper in Salt Lake City. Vern loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and the fiddle. He had a great sense of humor and was always laughing. He liked to hunt and fish and loved his grandkids. Vernon was generous to a fault and would give you the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sherral of Levan; children: Johnny James and Bonnie Jackson of Cottonwood Heights; Dennis Lee and Mimi Jackson of Sandy; Don Jackson, Angie Jackson, both of West Valley City; Sean and Annie Jackson of Oregon; step-children: David Sharples of West Valley City; Shelley and Rayne Hunt of Washington; 9 grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Carolyn and Dale Gifford, currently serving an LDS Mission in Mesa, Arizona; Jerry and Elva Jackson of Fremont; Elvin and Pauline Jackson of Santa Clara; Dawnetta Bolaris of Manti; Rhea Stevens of St. George; Stanton and Terri Jackson of Kanab. He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Shirley Jackson of Fremont; a brother, Denton Jackson and a sister, Faun Volz. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
