Viva C. Memmott

September 22, 1918 — July 18, 2003

Viva C. Memmott “Grandma” Aurora, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Viva Crowther Memmott, age 84, died July 18, 2003 at her home in Aurora. She was born September 22, 1918 in Aurora, a daughter of Alma Christian and Rhoda Clarissa Wall Crowther. Viva attend schools in Aurora. She met and married Norman Wilson Memmott, January 2, 1940 in Scipio. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple January 2, 1955. Norm died August 3, 2001, while working in the Manti Temple. Viva was an active member of the LDS Church, where she served in the Relief Society, taught Primary and MIA and served as the ward Librarian. She and her husband were temple workers for 26 years. Viva was always more than willing to help other people and was always around when there were town functions going on. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidery work, canning her fruits and vegetables. She was an excellent home maker. She loved her family and her friends very much. We will miss her, but we are thankful that she is with Grandpa. She is survived by a daughter, Portia Vossburg of Aurora, who has lovingly cared for her mother for the past several years; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Lavona Duffin, Las Vegas, NV; Leola Hansen, McGill, NV; Bernice Sorenson, Gunnison; Geraldean Ence, Congress, AZ and Geneva Knott, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, a daughter: Rea LaVon Sampson; three brothers and six sisters. They will all be waiting for her arrival in heaven. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Aurora 1st LDS Ward Chapel in Aurora, where friends may call for viewing Friday from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
