Vontess Jensen

Redmond, Utah - Rebecca Vontess Hales Jensen, age 95, passed away November 17, 2004 in Richfield, Utah. She was born August 5, 1909 in Redmond, Utah, a daughter of John S. and Rebecca Mickelsen Hales. She married Keogh Jensen in Richfield, Utah and they were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. Keogh was killed in an auto accident in 1952 and Vontess raised their ten children all alone. She held numerous LDS Church positions and served in the DUP and Legion Auxiliary. She has been at the Richfield Care Center for the past few years, and many thanks to her caretakers there. Vontess has seven living children: Phyllis and Hank Thiessens; Beth LaRene and Hal Barker; Ellen Kay and Powell Johnson; John Lee and Luane Jensen; Paul and Linda Jensen; Allen and Louise Jensen; Steve and Lorilie Jensen; 35 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Willis and Anna Hales. She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn (Jan) Jensen; and two daughters: Bessie Elaine (Veryl) Kesler and Velma Oviatt. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 12 Noon in the Redmond 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
