Wanda B. Kocherhans

Richfield/Salt Lake City, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Wanda Barney Kocherhans, age 88, died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Friday, September 16, 2011 at Garden Terrace, where she had been a resident for the past five years. She was born May 10, 1923 in Joseph, Utah, a daughter of Elias and Mary Jane Green Barney. She married David L. Kocherhans, February 4, 1951 in Fredonia, Arizona. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 18, 1963. David died November 29, 1988. Wanda enjoyed fishing, gardening and crafts. She was a member of the LDS Church. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Garden Terrace Alzheimers for the tender care and concerns that she received during her stay. Wanda is survived by her children: Mary Karen and Allan Mefford of West Valley City; David E. and Vay Kocherhans of Washington, Utah; grandchildren: D.J. Kocherhans of Magna; Jennifer Kocherhans and James Kocherhans, both of England. She was preceded in death by 10 siblings: Frank Barney, Elmer Barney, Leonard Barney, Larcel Barney, Violet Willis, Laura Howes, Ellen Foster, Thelma Pettit, Stella Campbell and Betty Hutchison. Grave side services will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Monroe City Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
