Wayne David Lebaron

September 7, 1932 — August 21, 2017

Richfield, Utah - Wayne David LeBaron, 84, passed away Aug. 21, 2017, at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Conway Morrill LeBaron and Georgia Loring. He married LaWana Cox LeBaron Nov. 26, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. LaWana passed away in 2002. He married Mary Carol Demings in Richfield in 2006. Mary passed away in 2011. Wayne graduated from Kingman High School in Kingman, Arizona, in 1948. He attended Branch Agricultural College, now Southern Utah University, in Cedar City. He obtained bachelor’s degrees in physics and microbiology from Utah State University and graduated from the University of Michigan with a master’s degree in public health. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He served an LDS mission in western states from 1952 to 1955. He was the director for health of central Utah for 20 years, 1977 to 1996, and was a physicist for the nuclear regulatory commission of the state board of health. He was also president of the Lions Club in Basin, Wyoming, from 1975 to 1976. His hobbies included shooting, reloading, hunting, fishing, nuclear disaster survival and writing books. He is survived by children, Wayne Lee LeBaron, Enoch; Michael Cox LeBaron; Merrill Sutherland LeBaron, all Taylorsville; LaWana Jane Karn, Kingman, Arizona; sister, Connie Donaldson, Price; 26 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by LaWana Ruth LeBaron; Mary Carol Demings; daughter, Georgia Ruth Golinar; and brother, George Loring LeBaron. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM, in the Richfield LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1040 South 400 West in Richfield. Viewing will be Friday, Aug. 25, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Springer Turner Funeral Home 260 North 400 West in Richfield, or at the ward chapel Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the services. Burial in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home, Richfield and Salina, Utah.
